The MARPOWER consortium is a collaborative effort designed to leverage the expertise of various stakeholders in the maritime transport value chain. Comprising 11 entities from six European countries (Finland, Denmark, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain), the partnership is established based on principles of excellence, commitment, and the capacity to achieve project objectives.

Founded in 2013, Aurelia Turbines is the first company globally to implement the IRG2 process in its gas turbines. IRG2 stands for “intercooled and recuperated, generator on both shafts”, allowing for high electrical efficiency. This innovative technology, developed at LUT University, is backed by over 30 years of research and development in high-speed technology and fluid dynamics. Aurelia Turbines holds extensive intellectual property rights related to this core technology and continues to build a portfolio of IP protections.
