The European Micro Gas Turbine Forum (EMGTF) 2025 took place on 15–16 October 2025 in Brussels, gathering the micro gas turbine (MGT) community for two days of insightful discussions, innovation showcases, and cross-sector collaboration around the future of gas turbine technology. The event brought together industry leaders, researchers, and policymakers to accelerate the transition toward flexible, low-emission, hydrogen-ready energy systems.
Aurelia Technologies showcases hydrogen-ready innovation
During the Panel Session on Market-Ready Solutions, Tony Hynes, Executive Vice President of International Sales at project partner Aurelia Technologies, delivered a presentation titled “H₂-Ready Micro Gas Turbines for Market Deployment: Aurelia’s Roadmap & Progress”. His talk outlined Aurelia Technologies’ ongoing product development and the company’s new generation of gas turbines, designed to enhance performance, modularity, and sustainability.
The session, attended by around 30 participants, provided an opportunity to discuss current advances in hydrogen-based power generation and to introduce two EU-funded initiatives in which Aurelia Technologies plays a key role: ROBINSON and MARPOWER.
Hydrogen innovation within the MARPOWER project
The MARPOWER project aims to design an advanced energy conversion system that will enable electricity generation and cogeneration on board marine vessels. Within this framework, Aurelia Technologies is contributing to the development of a 5 MWe, 100% hydrogen-fuelled gas turbine system with a target efficiency of 45%, which will serve as a key component of the overall system. The turbine is also fuel flexible, capable of operating on a broad range of clean and renewable fuels while maintaining reliable performance even with varying fuel quality. Unlike systems that depend on highly purified inputs, this technology offers true adaptability for future energy transitions.
Driving the future of clean energy
The EMGTF 2025, organised by ETN Global, Brunel University London, and the Universidad de Sevilla, provided a dynamic setting for open dialogue between developers, users, and policymakers, reinforcing Europe’s commitment to decarbonised, distributed, and hydrogen-powered energy solutions, which are central to the MARPOWER project’s mission. By advancing cleaner and more efficient energy solutions for maritime applications, the MARPOWER project continues to support Europe’s path toward a sustainable and resilient energy future.
